DIY Gift Basket

Gift baskets are such a great and simple idea for any occasion. Often times I feel like the store gift baskets are not fully customizable, at least not for the price point. So I figured why not make a custom gift basket. This was a fall theme basket, but it can be any theme you wish. Holiday season will be here before you know it, so you can definitely use this as an option.

Items you will require: scissors, tape, tissue paper, color string, clear wrap, items you want to place in the basket and most importantly either a basket or a sturdy base (I used a serving plate).

I chose to do a fall/new home theme basket. Some of the items I included are a candle, a mug, pumpkin decorations, a dog treat, a serving tray and a mini waffle maker. I was under a little time crunch or else I would have chosen to also add some chocolates and other small confetti. Line the serving tray with tissue paper and then arrange the items on it. I would suggest taller items towards the back and work up to shorter items in the front. Place the clear wrap at the bottom of the serving platter and wrap it around the items. Make sure to leave enough space at the top to tie with a string and then at least 6-12 inches of wrapping to stick out.

Once you are happy with the entire arrangement wrap the clear wrap around and secure the wrap with string around it. You can tape some of the plastic on the sides if they are sticking out. I put multiple layers of string to make a waterfall effect. It turned out quite nice! Below is a shot of how it turned out!
