These engagement pictures were taken about 8 months after we moved to the Bay area by the very talented Annie of A Tale Ahead Photography. During the photoshoot I found out that Annie’s alma mater was the University of Waterloo also! A fellow Canadian! It made me so happy meeting someone from Canada; something about them felt so familiar.

I knew for sure I wanted some pictures with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background and we were looking for one more location. It was so convenient that the Palace of Fine Arts was so close to Crissy Fields. We decided to start at the Palace of Fine Arts since we were trying to plan for sunset lighting when we took our Golden Gate Bridge pictures.

When we arrived at the Palace of Fine Arts it was more crowded than usual. The weather was good with minimal cloud cover. Then we realized there were a lot of teenagers in gowns and formal attire – it was Prom Night for most of the San Franciscan teens. I was a bit disappointed since I figured there were bound to be many teenagers or crowds in the background of my pictures. But that was not the case! I expressed this concern to Annie and she did such a great job of hiding them. I was beyond pleased when I saw the pictures!

A tricky thing I had to do was change in a public restroom from my Saree to my cocktail dress. It was very awkward to say the least. I definitely got a few stares from people when I went into the restroom with one type of clothing on and came out looking totally different. In these situations I wonder how easy it would be to be a guy. All Parthiv had to do is change his shirt in the car and that’s about as difficult as it got for him.

We had planned to do a picnic setup for part of the pictures and then walking candidly for the rest. Overall, we loved how the pictures turned out and were so happy we had the chance to do the photoshoot in San Francisco with Annie!

These pictures were taken 2 years ago so I don’t have the current link to this outfit. I am linking similar black cocktail dresses. The Saree was a gift from my mum a few years ago and the blouse was designed by my Aunt.
